How to Draw a Shark

This step-by-step shark drawing tutorial will show you how to draw a shark in the smallest amount of time possible. Whether you are learning to draw so you can create cute doodles in your bullet journal or you want to teach your kids how to draw, you have come to the right place.

Before we begin the shark drawing guide, it is important for you to check if you have all the supplies you need. You will need drawing pencils, erasers, and a sketching pad. If you have those, then you are all set.

If you want to color in your shark, you will need some quality colored pencils.

Easy Shark Drawing Step-by-Step Tutorial

There are many great ways to color in your shark, but for the purposes of this tutorial, we will be using a blue shark.

Step 1: Draw the Shark’s Body

The first thing to draw is the main body of the shark. Think of this as sort of a half-circle shape, except at the bottom you will curve in for the mouth and leave an empty space on the bottom left.

Step 2: Draw a Fin

In the space you left open, you will now draw a fin.

Step 3: Draw the Shark’s Eye

In this step, you will draw two circles. The first circle will be larger, and ultimately will be the main outline for the shark’s eye. The second circle will go inside the first circle you drew. This is going to be the pupil.

Step 4: Shade in the Eye

If you do not wish to color your shark in later, you can go ahead and shade in the eye at this time.

Step 5: Draw the Other Fin

Now, it’s time to draw the shark’s other fin. You will draw this fin on top of the curved horizontal line you made.

Step 6: Draw the Tail Fin

Draw a little fin on the right side (back portion) of your shark’s body.

Step 7: Draw the Shark’s Teeth

Although a shark’s teeth can be pretty scary in real life, it doesn’t have to be in this drawing. Draw two cute (not so pointy) teeth in your shark’s mouth.

Step 8: Draw Some Shark Gills

Draw three curved lines on the side of your shark. This will be its gills.

Step 9: You’re All Set!

All done! You now know how to create a cute shark. If you want to color it in, please proceed to the next step.

Step 10: Color in Your Shark Line Drawing

Although this shark is already pretty adorable, you can make it even cuter by coloring it in. If you aren’t sure what colors you should use on your shark, feel free to use the example above as inspiration.
