Loved the havk withe the bowl and paper clamp. Perfect idea. I have used a small creamer with a lid. This idea will work with a bigger cake of yarn. These will also be perfect with small skeins of colored yarn as I learn to do fair isle knitting with several colors. Possibly use baby jars or jelly jars with small clips?
