These products for my dry weather hair and skincare were sent to DIYbunker for testing without obligation to review. All opinions are my own.
For those of us who have dry hair and skin year round, the hunt is always on for new products. We need to keep our skin from looking dull and hair from looking coarse, of course. Living in the desert doesn’t help either. I have to take extra measures in order to keep my skin from looking 10 years older than it is. These past several days, I’ve had the pleasure of trying some quality products from SheaMoisture, Thayers and Nyakio. These are fantastic for dry weather hair and skincare. I’m really excited to share with you what I have found! I am happy to add that these companies do not test on animals which is a huge plus for me. : )
My Dry Weather Hair and Skincare Haul
Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydrate + Repair Shampoo/Conditioner by SheaMoistureÂ
While I am not one to look for products based on scent, I have to tell you that this shampoo and conditioner smells really pleasant! What really stood out to me though was how well it foams up without sulfates. I’ve always heard people talk about how important a nice lather is when it comes to shampoo. However, I honestly did not care until I realized how easy it makes product work into your hair. My hair ended feeling squeaky clean and moisturized before I even put the conditioner in.
When using this conditioner, I applied it the same as I do with all my others; I started with a lot at my ends and worked my way up, adding the least amount of product to the top of my head. I left it in while I did the rest of my shower routine (washing my face, shaving, etc) and rinsed right before getting out of the shower. What I loved about this conditioner is that it didn’t weigh my hair down at all which can often be a problem with other conditioners I’ve tried in the past.
Miracle Styler Leave-In Treatment by SheaMoisture
I am really grateful that I got to try this product. Â In my search for dry weather hair and skincare, I have been on the hunt for a dupe to the It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In. I’ve been slowly transitioning to products that are both cruelty-free and vegan and guess what? This product is even better than the It’s a 10! I didn’t even think it was possible.
The thing about my hair is that it gets a bit confused. The texture is in between Caucasian and Asian, it is fine but I have a lot of it, and it’s dry but can get greasy around my face. Not only did this product make my hair look healthy, it gave it VOLUME.
Also, remember how I said the shampoo and conditioner smelled awesome? This smelled even better! After 7 years with my partner, this is the first time he has ever commented on how good my hair smells. Score!
Hydrate + Repair Protein Power Treatment by SheaMoisture
Now this stuff was wonderfully THICK. When it comes to conditioners and masks, I love it when it is easy to actually get the product into my hair as I can get pretty clumsy and drop things in the shower. I didn’t have to worry about this sliding off my hand and going down the drain before I could dive after it (yes, this has happened many times and I usually don’t retrieve the product in time).
This product smelled amazing like the rest of the line and did a great job of making my hair look healthy. As a side note, I used this after my little photography session outside in the sun and I think that helped give it a really nice consistency by warming up the product. Just a tip I came up with on accident!
Thayers Witch Hazel Coconut Toner & Cucumber Face Mist
A while back I was recommended by my sister to use Thayers. As any good sister would, I put it off until the last moment, but when I tried it, I was HOOKED. I used the rose version for a while as I saw the most reviews for it but I now see that I should have branched out earlier!
Both the coconut water and cucumber smell great and I am so happy that there is now a spray version of the product. I used to splash Thayers product on my face because there was just nothing else like it! Plus, I didn’t have enough will power to put it into a spray bottle myself. Now, I can confidently say that you can really try any of their products and have a superb experience. I was so happy to add this to my dry weather hair and skincare haul.
Ways I like to use these products:
- After cleansing
- Following moisturizer
- After makeup
- Throughout the day for makeup refresh
- Sunburns
- Waking up from naps
Nyakio Firming Face Balm, Cleansing Oil Balm and Lip Polish
Before receiving this in the mail, I’d actually never heard of this brand. Little did I know, this would be the absolute savior for dry skin needs. I do believe that with the right routine, this can work great for oily skin as well.
This is how I used these products:
- Rub a small amount of cleansing oil balm into hands and remove makeup with it
- Take your routine cleanser and use that to remove every last bit of the oil balm along with the makeup that it had just loosened up
- Exfoliate with the lip polish to remove dead skin from lips
- Warm up a pea sized amount of the firming face balm to your hands and apply all over your face
*In between steps 2-4 spray Thayers Witch Hazel.
I can’t remember the last time I tried this many products in a row that all worked wonderfully for my skin and hair. I honestly think these products could work for all skin and hair types with the right routine.
