Halloween is hands down my favorite excuse to get a little ghoulish in the kitchen, and these Graveyard Brownies are my go to for a treat that’s as fun to make as it is to eat! If you’re hosting a haunted bash or just want to surprise your family with something sweet and spooky, this recipe is a total crowd pleaser and it all starts with a humble box of brownie mix.
With a few simple upgrades (hello, melted dark chocolate for extra richness!), we’ll transform ordinary brownies into a creepy cute graveyard scene, complete with Milano cookie tombstones and pumpkin candies peeking out from “dirt” made of crushed cookies. They’re fudgy, festive, and almost too adorable to eat… almost.

Ingredients
- 1 box brownie mix (about 430–500g / 15–18 oz)
- Ingredients called for on the box (usually eggs, oil, and water)
- ½ cup (90g) dark chocolate, melted
- 6–8 Milano cookies, halved
- Halloween pumpkin sprinkles or candies

Instructions

1. Make the Brownies
- Preheat oven to the temperature listed on the box (usually 175°C / 350°F).
- Prepare the brownie batter according to the package directions.
- Pour batter into a greased or parchment-lined 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) pan.
- Bake according to box instructions (usually 25–30 minutes). Let cool completely.

2. Create the Tombstones
- Use a toothpick or piping bag to write “RIP” on the rounded end of each Milano cookie. Let set (refrigerate briefly if needed).

3. Decorate the Graveyard
- Once brownies are cool, slice into 12–16 squares.
- Gently press a Milano cookie into each brownie square like a tombstone.
- Add pumpkin candies or sprinkles in front of the “grave.”
- Optionally, sprinkle crushed Oreos or cookie crumbs around the tombstone to look like dirt.
Notes
- If brownies puff up during baking, gently press them down once cooled for easier decorating.
- You can also use melted white chocolate or royal icing for the “RIP” lettering.
- Want more gore? Add red gel icing for a bloody touch.
