Description

Halloween is hands down my favorite excuse to get a little ghoulish in the kitchen, and these Graveyard Brownies are my go to for a treat that’s as fun to make as it is to eat! If you’re hosting a haunted bash or just want to surprise your family with something sweet and spooky, this recipe is a total crowd pleaser and it all starts with a humble box of brownie mix.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box brownie mix (about 430–500g / 1518 oz)
  • Ingredients called for on the box (usually eggs, oil, and water)
  • ½ cup (90g) dark chocolate, melted
  • 68 Milano cookies, halved
  • Halloween pumpkin sprinkles or candies
  • Optional: crushed Oreos or chocolate cookie crumbs (for extra “dirt”)

Instructions

1. Make the Brownies

2. Create the Tombstones

3. Decorate the Graveyard

  • Optionally, sprinkle crushed Oreos or cookie crumbs around the tombstone to look like dirt.

Notes

Can I use homemade brownies?
Yes! You can swap the box mix for your favorite homemade brownie recipe.

Do Milano cookies hold up well?
Yes, they stay crisp and are the perfect size and shape for edible tombstones.

Can I decorate these ahead of time?
Yes — make and decorate up to 1 day ahead. Store covered at room temperature.

 Ideas & Variations

  • Use green-tinted shredded coconut for grass.
  • Add gummy worms crawling out of the “graves.”
  • Draw different tombstone designs: skulls, crosses, or dates.
  • Serve on a black tray with dry ice for smoky graveyard vibes.
