While going shopping for treats to give your dog can be overwhelming with all the choices at first, once you look closer and find out how toxic store bought pet food can be it really seems like there aren’t any options at all.
Like us though, our dogs have healthier alternatives and they are usually made best at home. If you are on the hunt for some delicious DIY dog treat recipes that are nutritious and will make your dog’s mouth water, read on.
Blueberry Dog Cookies

These gorgeous blueberry cookies are bound to get your pup super excited!
Peanut Butter

Found From Eating Bird Food
I honestly have never met a dog that doesn’t like peanut butter. While my puppy was neutral to it at first, she definitely goes nuts for it now!
Yogurt Peanut Butter

Found From Cooking With Janica
Now these are so ADORABLE! The yogurt makes it look so soft like it will melt in your lucky dog’s mouth.
Pumpkin Apple

See the recipe at Morgan Rhodes
Being a lover of pumpkin and apples, I’m tempted to eat this one!
Anti-Inflammatory

Found From Proud Dog Mom
If your bundle of joy has a sensitive tummy, try these out for sure.
Fresh Breath Treat

Found From DogVills
Stinky mouth? No worries! Clean it up with these fresh breath recipes! Also, my personal recommendation for bad breath is to give your dog raw bone marrow. It will clean their teeth and those teeth will shine like no other. Seriously, try it! I am actually JEALOUS of my pup’s teeth. They are so white as if she gets laser whitening every week, but it’s just the power of a raw diet.
Unicorn Dog Bones

See the recipe at Dalmatian and DIY
Want to keep your pup hip with the unicorn trend? This is how!
Peanut Butter & Coconut Oil

Found From Golden Barrel

These totally remind me of one of those ice creams you could get from the truck as a youngster.
Frozen Apples

Found From Pop Sugar
Wow! How creamy looking!
Salmon Jerky

Found From Homemade Dog Treats Now
As a vegan, if there is one thing I remember the taste of fondly, it’s salmon.
Grain-Free Sweet Potato

I wonder if my puppy will love sweet potatoes as much as I do!
Oatmeal, Peanut Butter, & Banana

Apple, Cheddar, & Bacon Bits

I think my pup would lose her mind (in a good way) if I gave her these!
If you are like me, you hardly trust any pet companies. They make overpriced toxic foods that shorten the lives of our pets just to make a quick buck. The pet food industry is run by the big brands who have the power to tell you what you should or should not put into your fur baby’s mouth so naturally they are going to trick you into buying their cheaply made products. If you haven’t already, I recommend doing plenty of research into what you feed your pets so that they can live the lives you want them to. Thank you so much for reading and let me know your favorite recipe in the comments!
