Beautiful glowing skin is something that we all want but some of us aren’t sure how to get. The great news is that it is achievable for everywhere with healthy habits and consistency. It does not even have to be super expensive either. While there are many options on the market constantly being thrown in our faces as the new hot product, a lot of tried and true strategies for getting amazing skin can be done on the cheap and have existed for quite a while now.
Self-Care Routines
Stress is one of the biggest offenders when it comes to aging from your skin to your hair and nails. Not only does it make us look older, it prevents our bodies from functioning optimally. This is why it is so important that we make sure to make routines which relax us, especially at night so that we can get our beauty rest. Great ways to get rid of extra stress are warm bubble baths with dim lighting, reading a book, putting on a face mask while watching your favorite show, and lighting up some candles while cuddling in a blanket. Life is meant to be enjoyed and if you don’t take care of yourself, it’s definitely going to show. How does it feel to HAVE to relax? Are you up to the task?
Take Off Your Makeup Before Bed
This one is probably the most difficult for a lot of people. When you get home, you kind of just want to relax and sit down until the last minute when you go to sleep. The problem is this is absolutely terrible for your skin! All of the dirt, sweat, and makeup is still on your skin and will stay there for the entire night if nothing is done about it. If you are one of those people who get a little too awake after washing your face, at the very least, get some makeup wipes and place them on your night stand. Problem solved.
Drink Plenty of Water & Tea
It is important to drink enough water so that your body can function correctly. If you are in good health, it will show on your skin. If you have trouble drinking enough water, just try adding some natural flavor by slicing up some fruits and then throwing them in your glass of water or an infuser. If you still need an extra kick, I completely recommend using a soda stream. I personally am a huge fan of carbonated water! The best part is that you don’t need to add any syrup or extra sugar. Fruits provide more than enough sugar to get your taste buds going!
Wear Sunscreen + a Hat
If anything, people find their face the most crucial part of their body that they want to protect from aging. To keep the sun from causing too much damage on your face when you go out, you need to invest in a good sunscreen and pop on a huge hat. This needs to be done every single day as sun damage is something that sneaks up on you. Make sure to reapply sunscreen throughout the day as the instructions direct and put it all over your body rather than touch ups.
Sweat it Out
Exercising can seem like a hassle but it has so many wonderful benefits. Not only does it improve our skin, it keeps our mood and physical shape in excellent condition. If you are looking specifically just to improve your skin, I highly recommend checking out some hot yoga classes. It will completely change your skin for the better and leave a dazzling glow 24/7.
Use Natural Products
It is always best to understand exactly what you are putting on your body. My philosophy is that if it is healthy for me to eat, I can put it on my body and just an extra boost of benefits.
Moisturize
Whether you live in a humid or dry climate, it is always a good idea to invest in a quality moisturizer to prevent wrinkles. My favorite budget moisturizers are coconut oil and jojoba oil as I can use it everywhere! I put it in my hair, face, nails, and body. It works wonders and makes your skin look super healthy! Fun fact, jojoba oil is the only oil that mimics natural human sebum. Cool, huh?
Sleep Plenty
When you rest, your body finally gets time to recover from all of the motions you went through the previous day. Make sure to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night and if you can, sleep in complete darkness. This may be a bit harder if you have a night time job and can only sleep during the day. To fix this problem, invest in some black out curtains and your body will thank you for it.
Clean Your Makeup Brushes
Let’s face it, our makeup brushes are super nasty and they get that way fairly quickly. All of that moisture coming from our face and our moisturizers combined with the makeup is like a bacteria fiesta. Use a good brush cleanser often so you don’t negate the benefits of washing your face.
Change Your Pillowcase
A clean face mixed with a dirty sweaty pillow isn’t the most attractive idea. It is definitely something that can be overlook though as you usually do not see the sweat and drool build up. Well, unless you have a boyfriend/husband. Try washing your pillowcases at least twice a week and you should be golden!
Trust me, if you use all of these tips you will see an improvement in the quality of your skin pretty soon on. What kind of things do you like to do for your skin each day? Let me know in the comments!
