Ingredients

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, browned
  • 1 ¼ cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅓ cup molasses
  • 2 ¾ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips

Maple Glaze

  • ½ stick unsalted butter, softened
  • ⅓ cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons milk

 


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a 9×13 baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a saucepan, brown 2 sticks of unsalted butter and let it cool slightly.
  4. In a large bowl, mix the browned butter, 1 ¼ cup dark brown sugar, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 2 eggs, and ⅓ cup molasses until well combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and ½ teaspoon salt.
  6. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and fold together until a thick dough forms.
  7. Stir in 1 cup butterscotch chips.
  8. Scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing the cookies evenly.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  10. Let cookies cool on a wire rack.
  11. In a bowl, beat ½ stick softened unsalted butter, ⅓ cup maple syrup, and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth.
  12. Gradually add 1 cup powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons milk, mixing until the glaze is smooth and pourable.
  13. Drizzle the maple glaze over the cooled cookies.
