Description

Looking for a festive treat to sweeten up your Fourth of July celebration? These easy cookie bars are just the thing! Topped with red, white, and blue sprinkles and packed with mini M&Ms in patriotic colors, they’re chewy, colorful, and guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser at your summer cookout or fireworks party.

Ingredients

Cookie Bars

  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Topping

  • Mini Red, White, and Blue M&Ms
  • Red, White, and Blue Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a little overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and dark brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  7. Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  8. Sprinkle the top with mini red, white, and blue M&Ms and festive sprinkles. Gently press them into the surface so they stick.
  9. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Let the cookie bars cool completely in the pan. Once cool, lift them out using the parchment paper and cut into 16 squares.
  11. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. Perfect for patriotic parties or picnic tables!
