8 Natural Allergy Remedies If you have ever experienced the wrath of nature, you know about a thing called ‘allergies’. Yup, you really never know how uncomfortable hay fever can be until you catch it yourself. Around the same time each year, the sniffles, the headaches and the watery eyes kick in and you find yourself reaching for some OTC medicine. At least that was the case for me until lately!  Now, I know some key allergy remedies that I can pass on to you.

After years of experience, I’ve caught on to a few tricks here and there that have helped me keep the discomfort to a minimum, and guess what? They don’t require frequent trips to the local pharmacy. If you’re on board for some natural allergy remedies, then try these hacks out!

8 Natural Allergy Remedies:

Wash Your Hands Often

Just like you wash your hands after touching something you’re allergic to, you should  also wash your hands after going outside if you have allergies. Without thinking about it, we tend to touch our faces quite a bit throughout the day. If your body doesn’t like the outdoors certain times of the year, try not to rub what’s outside on your face, especially your eyes!  This is a simple allergy remedy. However, it really takes a lot of discipline and practice to get right.

Bathe the Dog

Since dogs go outside to do their business (hopefully), they’re constantly bringing inside all the pollen as it easily gets stuck in their fur. Be sure to give your little best friend a wash every so often to keep the indoor pollen to a minimum. Even better, try to keep dogs off your bed so you can sleep peacefully at night without any tissues.  Clean dogs are wonderful allergy remedies.

Essential Oils

Diffusing certain oils and blends around allergy season can work wonders for clearing your sinuses. Lavender, eucalyptus and peppermint are helpful as allergy remedies and awesome at helping you breathe better.

Wash the Bed Sheets

I alluded to this earlier but clean sheets can be good little allergy remedies. Just in case your little pup got on the bed, or you forgot to take a shower after getting home, be sure to keep your bed clean. Your rest is important to keep your body in tip top shape for fighting those allergens!

Shower After Going Outside

Ideally, along with the clean bed sheets, you should also have a clean body. Pollen can easily get stuck in your hair and clothes, so be sure your hair is washed and that you have fresh jimmy jams for bedtime.

Apple Cider Vinegar

While this may take a couple of weeks for you to feel the difference, use your awesome discipline to drink the following recipe daily.

Apple Cider Vinegar Allergy Relief

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespon ACV
  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Local Bees Honey optional (for nonvegans)

Instructions

  • Drink 3x/day everyday.

Healthy Diet

It’s important to keep your diet healthy so your body is able to combat any sort of allergen. Try eating a antioxidant rich breakfast without any common allergens such as eggs and dairy. Some oatmeal with fruits, almond milk and nuts will do wonders!

Goodbye Carpet!

Carpet is seriously your worst nightmare if you want to really keep a clean house. While you can get a fair amount of dirt out of it, there is always going to be something left behind. Try getting hard floors as they are much easier to keep clean on a regular basis.

I hope you liked these tips and they help you as much as they’ve helped me! If you have any tips of your own that you’d like to add, then please chime in! Until next time. : )
